The purpose of this web site is to use the most advanced technology in an innovative and creative manner to provide a simple means for travellers to gain a better view and understanding of the joy of travel by train in China.

The first step of the process is to present a Google Earth view with associated timetables for the routes travelled by most of the scheduled passenger trains throughout the country.

Whether you are Chinese or visitor, you are welcome to use these facilities to facilitate the planning and fulfillment of your travel plans, or merely to enjoy the investigation of this vast, friendly, powerful and most populous nation.

The foremost interest at this juncture of the development process is twofold: to form a small group of technically astute developers to enhance the scale and scope of the project while also forming clearly defined relationships which will facilitate the propagation and utilization of the services in a way that will lead to the realization of a profitable business enterprise.

As understanding of the Google Earth API for browsers is acquired it is planned to be an alternative method of display, making the resource more conveniently available.

Instructions

With Google Earth installed on your system click on any of the scheduled trains listed on the following pages linked from above.

Once the route is loaded into Google Earth you can see the full schedule information by clicking the link in the "Temporary Places" menu or on any icon indicating a station along the route. This will open a balloon as indicated by the following sample:

Double clicking an icon along the route will zoom to the locality of the station. If the icon is bright clicking near (but not on) the icon will zoom in towards the station and the station can be seen clearly at an appropriate zoom distance. If the icon is dulled the station location is not clearly identifiable and may be anywhere in the vicinity.

It is hoped that this project will generate serious interest among Chinese business principals to work with the developer to establish a commercial enterprise using this technology or integrate it into an existing business.
